Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, CEO of the School of Self-Education and Positive Personality Growth, served as a Subject Matter Expert for ANF Pakistan in a podcast session focused on the important intersection of youth mental health and addictive behaviors, with particular emphasis on chemical and non-chemical addiction.
The discussion highlighted the growing need to address addiction-related challenges among young people and emphasized the importance of awareness, prevention, and timely psychological support. Through this platform, key strategies were shared to promote the mental well-being of youth and encourage a more informed and supportive response to addiction-related concerns.
Dr. Muhammad Rizwan expressed appreciation to Director Operations, ANF Pakistan, Malik Wajid, Deputy Director Ms. Kanwal, and their dedicated team for organizing and leading this valuable initiative. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, CEO of the School of Self-Education and Positive Personality Growth and Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Wah, supervised and participated in a seminar on Thalassemia Awareness and Psychological Well-Being organized by the Department of Psychology, University of Wah, on 11 February 2026.
The seminar, titled “Living with Thalassemia: Psychological Burden, Emotional Well-being, and Parental Resilience,” was arranged to raise awareness about the psychological, emotional, and social impact of thalassemia on individuals and their families. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Qazi Mahmood Ul Hassan, Director Admissions, along with a large number of students and faculty members.
The session was moderated by Dr. Noman Aftab and included active faculty participation from Dr. Samina Rashid, Mr. Maaz, Ms. Habiba, Ms. Haleema, Ms. Hajra, Ms. Aaysha, Ms. Aminah Dar, Ms. Dimple, and Ms. Rizwana.
The keynote speaker, Air Vice Marshal (R) Aftab Hussain, Director, Sundas Foundation, highlighted the prevalence of thalassemia in Pakistan and emphasized the urgent need for preventive awareness and early screening. He also discussed the psychological and emotional burden faced by patients and caregivers, underscoring the importance of resilience, emotional support, and mental health care. In addition, he shared the mission and services of the Sundas Foundation in supporting individuals and families affected by the disorder.
In his closing remarks, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan expressed appreciation to AVM (R) Aftab Hussain for his valuable and informative contribution. He also thanked Prof. Dr. Qazi Mahmood Ul Hassan, faculty members, and students for their active participation. He highlighted the important role of health psychologists in addressing the broader implications of chronic health conditions and assured the Department of Psychology’s full cooperation and support for initiatives that advance awareness, community service, and psychological well-being.

Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, CEO of the School of Self-Education and Positive Personality Growth and Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Wah, oversaw the successful conduct of a capacity-building workshop titled “Mind Over Mood: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Workshop” organized by the Department of Psychology, University of Wah, on 02 February 2026.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Haleema Adnan, Lecturer, who served as the resource person and keynote speaker. The workshop was designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of cognitive behavioral techniques and their practical application in managing emotions, thoughts, and behavior patterns.
Through interactive discussion and hands-on learning activities, the workshop provided valuable academic, clinical, and professional insight for students and emerging mental health practitioners. The session created an engaging platform for participants to explore how CBT-based approaches can be applied in both personal development and professional mental health practice.
The event was coordinated under the supervision of Dr. Noman Aftab, who served as the focal person. The Department also acknowledged Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, Chairperson, Department of Psychology, for his guidance and continued support in promoting quality academic and professional training opportunities.

Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, CEO of the School of Self-Education and Positive Personality Growth and Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Wah, participated in a one-day training session organized for selected University of Wah alumni engaged by National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) Pvt. Ltd. for the Rawalpindi Ring Road Phase-II project.
The training session was arranged by the University of Wah Alumni Office for alumni selected as enumerators to conduct a Household Integrated Economic Survey (HIES) in the Islamabad Territory. This opportunity provided valuable field exposure to graduates from various departments and reflected a meaningful step toward strengthening collaboration between academia and industry.
The session was led by senior NESPAK officials, including Dr. Muhammad Ali Awan, Mr. Jahanzeb Hassan Khan, and Mr. Khurram Rehman, who shared technical guidance and professional insights with the participating alumni.
During the session, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, in his academic role, highlighted the significance of such initiatives in promoting professional development and improving career opportunities for graduates, especially within the social sciences. The event also featured remarks by Prof. Dr. Amjad Hassan, Director ORIC, who emphasized the University of Wah’s commitment to building sustainable industry linkages, while Dr. Asma Arif and Dr. Syed Tahir Hussain Shah expressed appreciation to NESPAK for creating this valuable opportunity.

This important initiative was arranged to promote mental health awareness and help reduce social stigma surrounding psychological well-being. It was coordinated by Ms. Rizwana Samreen and Ms. Dimple Kumari under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan as part of the university’s observance of Mental Health Awareness Month in January.
The event reflected the Department of Psychology’s continued commitment to fostering a culture of mental health awareness and emotional well-being across the campus community. It also highlighted the importance of collective efforts in creating a more informed, supportive, and psychologically healthy educational environment.
The Mental Wellness Walk was attended enthusiastically by faculty members of the Department of Psychology, including Dr. Samina Rashid, Dr. Nouman Aftab, Ms. Habiba Shaheen, Ms. Haleema Adnan, Ms. Aaisha Shaukat, Ms. Bibi Hajra, and Ms. Wajiha Arshad. The workshop was designed to strengthen foundational counselling competencies essential for effective helping relationships. Key areas included active listening, empathy, rapport building, effective questioning, and ethical considerations in counselling practice. Emphasis was placed on practical application, enabling participants to understand how these core skills can be used across educational, clinical, and community settings. The session provided a supportive and engaging learning environment, encouraging participants to reflect on their personal and professional roles while developing confidence in basic counselling interactions. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan extends appreciation to the management of Positive Solutions, Wah Cantt, for their cooperation and support, as well as to all participants for their active engagement and commitment to professional growth. This workshop represents another step toward enhancing accessible, skill-based mental health training in diverse professional settings.

Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, CEO of the School of Self-Education and Positive Personality Growth, is pleased to share that a one-day Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) workshop was successfully conducted at Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan (AWKUM). The workshop focused on building a clear understanding of DBT and its practical use in mental health settings. Participants were introduced to core DBT concepts and key skill areas, with an emphasis on how DBT-informed approaches can support clients in managing intense emotions, improving coping strategies, and strengthening interpersonal functioning. The session also encouraged discussion and learning through interactive engagement, making the training both practical and relevant for students and professionals. The School extends its appreciation to Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, for facilitating the workshop and providing an enabling learning environment. Gratitude is also shared with all participants for their active involvement, interest, and commitment to improving mental health knowledge and practice. This one-day workshop reflects the School’s ongoing mission to promote evidence-based psychological education and strengthen professional capacity through meaningful training initiatives.

This impactful event was organized and delivered through a strong collaboration with Ms. Sidra Shahzad, CEO of Umeed-e-Shifa Rehabilitation, Banni Gala, Islamabad. The School extends special appreciation to the primary resource person, Mr. Oliver Brust, CEO of the German Institute of Management Assessment and Psychotherapy, Dresden, Germany. His expertise provided valuable insights into the practical integration of psychodrama techniques to support meaningful rehabilitation outcomes. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan also expresses sincere gratitude to Ms. Sidra Shahzad for her exceptional partnership, generous support, the well-arranged venue, and warm hospitality—elements that greatly contributed to the workshop’s success and reflected the spirit of shared commitment to mental health and rehabilitation. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, CEO of the School of Self-Education and Positive Personality Growth and Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Wah, supervised the successful organization of the 6th Mental Health Camp held by the Department of Psychology, University of Wah, on 10 February 2026.
Organized under his supervision as Chief Organizer, the event was coordinated by Dr. Noman Aftab, Ms. Rizwana Samreen, and Ms. Dimpal Kumari. The camp was designed to promote mental health awareness, reduce the stigma associated with psychological concerns, and encourage emotional well-being among students and the wider community.
The initiative offered counseling services, awareness activities, and interactive learning opportunities aimed at creating a supportive, informed, and mentally healthy environment. The event was honored by the presence of Haji Muhammad Hussain of Positive Solutions as Chief Guest. It was further graced by the participation of the Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences, the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Director ORIC, University of Wah, all of whom appreciated the Department of Psychology for organizing a timely and meaningful initiative.
The camp also welcomed participation from representatives of Riphah International University, Young Muslim Inclusive Education System, Sir Syed School Wah Cantt, Senses Child Development School, Lahore Grammar School, Rising Shine School, and the Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning. Their presence strengthened inter-institutional collaboration and expanded the reach of community mental health awareness efforts.
A dedicated counseling setup team, supervised by Ms. Hajra, Ms. Habiba, and Ms. Haleema, provided professional, confidential, and empathetic on-the-spot psychological guidance, which was highly appreciated by participants. In addition, a number of interactive stalls, effectively organized and managed by Ms. Ayesha, actively engaged visitors through awareness-based activities and informative sessions on important mental health topics.
The 6th Mental Health Camp received highly positive feedback from students, faculty members, and visiting guests. Participants especially appreciated the interactive stalls, accessible counseling support, and the overall organization of the event. Through the collective efforts of faculty members and students, the camp became a meaningful and impactful step toward promoting psychological well-being and fostering a culture of openness, support, and awareness at the University of Wah.
